The Department of Agriculture’s Division of Aquatic & Wildlife Resources DAWR) in collaboration with the Bureau of Statistics and Plans are announcing that the 6th Annual Pork in the Park Cook-Off will take place from 12:00 PM to 4:30PM on December 17, 2016 at the Governor Joseph Flores “Ypao” Memorial Park. Chefs and teams who wish to participate in the Cook-off may sign up at the Departments of Agriculture’s DAWR office in Mangilao. There are “Pot” and “Pit” categories for the Cook-Off with prizes for the best dish in each category. The Pork in the Park Cook-Off along with the Pig Hunting Derby are designed to bring awareness to the community on the negative impacts of feral pigs and other invasive species on Guam, specifically how these species affect crops, native plants, and coral reefs. There will be educational interactive displays and raffles throughout the day. The Pork in the Park Cook-Off is a free event and the public is encouraged to come and enjoy the different “Pot” and “Pit” techniques of cooking used to prepare wild pigs.
